Nursing Assistant Training Program
NAMA students will receive 125 hours of classroom/lab instructions. 16-24 hours will be spent out of class working in a local nursing home or hospital, suprvised by a teaching coordinator. With a certificate in nursing assistant, opportunities for employment in hospitals, nursing homes, or in any health care facility is in your reach and provide you with the knowledge to continue your education in the nursing field.

Class Time: Monday thru Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Evening Classes; 5 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Weekend classes available upon request), for 4 weeks. Students are required to attend school every day, including the last week of clinical. At the end of  the 125 hours of instruction and clinical, all students who wish to become certified nursing assistants must compete the state competence test.

Home Health Aide
The Home Health Aide program will include covering all state standards related to training for: (1) Communication and Interpersonal Skills (2) Infection Control (3) Safety and Emergency Procedures (4) Promoting Resident Independence (5) Respecting Resident’s Right, (6) Basic Nursing Skills such as (a) recognizing abnormal signs and symptoms of common diseases or conditions (b) caring for residents when death is imminent, (c) measure and record routine vital signs and height and weight; (7) Caring for Resident Environment to include bed making, resident unit order, maintaining safety standards, and infection control, (8) Personal Care Skills to include bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, assisting with eating, and skin care, (9) Mental Health and Social Service Needs; (10) Basic Restorative Services such as use of assistive devices and proper turning and positioning in bed and chair; (11) Resident’s Right.

The 125-hour program is designed to provide participant with the knowledge to continue their education and enter a job pathway in the nursing field. They will be prepared to work in home settings, group home and assisted living settings.

Trained Medication Administration Aide
The 60-hour course will cover: (1) laws and governmental regulations governing nursing practice, controlled substances, and reporting maltreatment of vulnerable persons, (2) terminology, forms of medication and routes for administering medications (3) medication references; (4) overview of general structure and function, common pathology. and pharmacological effect of specific medications on all key body systems; (5) the major categories and how each category is related to a body system and its pathology, and (6) role and scope of medication aid in administering medications including specific functions in the role of medication aide including skills practice.

The Trained Medication Administration Aide course will prepare students with the full range of knowledge and skills needed to administer medications in a safe and effective manner regardless of setting under a supervising trained nurse.
